It is a wonderful story!
Where We Are Now: A lot of times, the “About Us” page in websites is a static page… meaning is never changes. But to really understand who we are, it is an ongoing, ever changing story. I would first recommend that you read the history of Sweet As Can Bee. It can be found here.
A Little Background Information……
So, lets pick up where we left off. I took a teaching job at Le Cordon Bleu in Seattle in the middle of 2008. I left Sodexo (a job I really did love and still do) in search of something that would allow me to have more time for my family and to grow the business. I found that teaching hit the spot.
After about 6 months of teaching, I found myself with the ability to be able to branch out more and do other things with the business. I knew I needed to hire someone to help me out. If you know me, you know that I have tons of ideas…. and little time! Hire someone to help me out and make ideas come to life! This is where I met Angela. Our first initial meeting was over coffee and a light lunch at Starbucks. We hit it off. She had extensive experience dealing with people from all over the world, she’s well-traveled, educated and most importantly had a strong desire to make the business prosper. We both have a love for nature, believe in the same concept of customer service and… well… it seemed like two essential ingredients that would make a wonderful dish! She was hired!
I could write and write and write a lot about what happened from that point on. But to make a potentially novel-like story short, we decided to enter into the farmers market world, redo the web site, and go big or go home. And there were plenty of times that we wanted to go home! But one thing I really enjoy about having Angela as my bee partner is that we keep each other in check in so many different ways and we continue to push each other in positive ways. It has turned out to be more than a business relationship it is also a friendship. She has become my right hand woman. Lets face it, owning and running a business is tough and we both have of a lot going on in our personal lives. It couldn’t be a better partnership, we are both dedicated and love what we do.
Where we are… presently….
We have grown so much over the past year. One farmers market became two, became three, and ended up at 9 farmers markets a week. Angela and I went insane. Yup…. both of us are now crazy bee people! :) But luckily we added a few new team members into the mix. You will meet Kelsey Racicot out and about this summer. Angela is getting full beekeeping training this summer so we will be in the yard tending our ladies while Kelsey keeps you stocked up on honey.
We have a lot of new things coming for the 2010 season. One of them being our skin care line. I cant wait! Finally, something simple and good for our skin. I hate to read the back of labels and can’t pronounce half the stuff they have in the ingredient list. Yikes!
Of course, we will be keeping up with our web site and monthly newsletters. They take an enormous amount of time and dedication but we love to hear and read the letters that come in.
Feel free to visit this page every once and a while as with time, things will change!
